Guard You Home is a Chinese New Year short film produced by Han Chiang University College of Communication. It has been awarded with two silver medals respectively from The 3rd Guangzhou (International) City Image Competition and The 1st Guangzhou Youth Art Video Creation Competition: The New Waves are Coming hosted in China.
According to the official announcement of The 3rd Guangzhou (International) City Image Competition, Guard You Home had won the 1st runner-up in students’ short film category among 139 contestants.

Guard You Home also won a silver medal award in the senior short film category of The 1st Guangzhou Youth Art Video Creation Competition: The New Waves are Coming.
Guided by HCUC’s lecturer Lee Kean Wei, Guard You Home tells a story about an Indian security guard who works in HCUC and helps his Chinese colleague, an aged father to ameliorate his relationship with his son.
The director, Chua Qin Yi, said the element of diverse cultural community was added into the story to promote this unique culture of Malaysia where different races could live peacefully together.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the production team of Guard You Home aspired to deliver a message of cherishing our lives by exploring the theme of allocating quality time to visit parents during festive seasons, in this case, the Chinese New Year.
“I feel thankful for the competitions that provided opportunities for us in showcasing our talents,” she added.
“We were thrilled to know that we won the 1st runner up in these competitions, I would also like to thank my beloved team members for giving constant effort for this short film,” she said.
