After a year of careful planning, Han Chiang Primary School is now proud to present its newest building, Tan Kok Ping Edu Hub. The building is named after Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping, who is the Executive Advisor of all the three institutions of Han Chiang and primary donor in actualising this vision of expressing his dedication towards this school, which also reflects the future of Chinese education.
The building first started construction on 10 April 2021 and was subsequently completed on the very same date of this year. The feat was miraculous as the new building was able to be completed in just under a year even with constraints of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
With the launch of the Tan Kok Ping Edu Hub, students in Han Chiang Primary can now enjoy new state-of-the-art classrooms, wider corridors, and an open-air basketball court. With the construction of the Edu Hub, came the revamping of the school’s gates too. The gates are now painted in six different colours to represent the different levels of students who range from Year 1 to Year 6. Additionally, with the Edu Hub, Han Chiang Primary had transitioned to only having classes during the morning.
During the grand opening of the Tan Kok Ping Edu Hub on 10 April 2022, many esteemed guests attended to show their support, love and gratitude for having been able to contribute to the new building and to be able to enrich the educational experience of Han Chiang Primary School’s students and teachers. The guests include; the Chairman of Han Chiang Board of Directors, Dato Seri Ooi Soo Hing, the Consul General of People’s Republic of China in Penang, His Excellency Mr. Lu Shu Wei, and the Penang Chief Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Chow Kon Yeow.
The Tan Kok Ping Edu Hub’s construction would not have been possible if it weren’t for the help of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan’s funding of RM 5 million to the construction project, and the Penang State Government for assisting in the construction of the Edu Hub.
