PENANG – A batch of Year 3 Semester 2 graduating students of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Multimedia from Han Chiang University College of Communication held their graduation showcase at Jetty 35, Georgetown on 4 and 5 November, 2023. The theme of the exhibition was titled, “Spectrum – A Celebration of Colour in Art.”
Sponsors, art enthusiasts, industry professionals, HCUC lecturers, and students gathered to witness the grand opening ceremony on the first day of the exhibition.
The venue was transformed into a multicoloured paradise, with 13 uniquely and meticulously designed booths set up to showcase the diverse works of art of each student with a specific colour theme. It was a sight of a visual symphony of colours that left the viewers in awe.
One booth, in particular, offered guests the opportunity to pick up pencils and explore their artistic side on a piece of shared mahjong paper. It became a canvas of shared experiences,
with people of all ages engaging in the joy of creation.
The second day of the exhibition was equally impressive, with the students continuing to showcase their creativity. Each exhibit showed the students’ dedication and skill, and the theme of celebrating colour in all its forms.
The lecturers present at the exhibition further emphasised the educational aspect of the event, providing valuable insights and feedback to the students.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the surprise addition of a student’s cat, which became an unexpected star of the show, attracting attention and adding an extra layer of charm to the already lively event. Attendees could not help but stop and admire the adorable creature.
“For this graduation showcase, I think I learned many things not only on artworks, but I also learned how to communicate, deal with the public, planning, and so on,” said P’ng Soak Nee, the president of the Spectrum Exhibition 2023.
P’ng’s words were a testament to the educational value of the exhibition, which provided the students with a platform to showcase their talents and learn valuable skills.
The creativity, passion, and vision of the HCUC students were on full display during the two day exhibition, making the exhibition a success that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
