Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) welcomed its new April 2018 intake students with an annual welcoming party at HCUC’s multi-purpose hall, recently.
Organised by HCUC’s radio society Teen Frequency, the welcoming party saw more than 120 new students from the School of Business and Management, School of Chinese Studies, School of Communication and Media as well as School of Applied Creative Arts and Design come in their best pyjamas, in line with this year’s theme ‘Pyjama Party’.
Teen Frequency president, Cheah Aun Wei who is also a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism student, said the annual welcoming party acts as a platform to enable the seniors and juniors of HCUC to get to know one another better.
“The activities during the party such as games, lucky draw and group chanting session help the new students to break the ice and socialise with the seniors as well as other students from different schools,” he said.
The party started at 7.30pm with a welcoming speech by Cheah, followed by various dance and singing performances by the members of Teen Frequency.
Diploma in Mass Communication first-year student, Darshan Dave, said the party featured a great theme and he personally enjoyed the performances and activities lined up throughout the night.
“It was an enjoyable night and of course I got to make many new friends too,” he said. Meanwhile, Teen Frequency lecturer advisor, Ooi Li Fang, applauded the hard work the organising committee had put in throughout the event. “I hope the team can maintain this spirit to organise a better welcoming party every year,” she said.
The next intake for HCUC’s foundation, diploma and degree programmes is August 20, 2018.
