Despite having only six students to prepare for the whole production, Han Chiang University College of Communication’s (HCUC) final year Broadcasting students managed to produce great projects comprising two short films, corporate videos and documentaries respectively.
Produced by two student-teams, namely, Imperfect Studios and Neptune Film, their projects impressed the public during the Lodestar Premiere, which was held at Komtar Auditorium, recently.
Organising Chairperson Tarren Tan said both teams worked hard for the past two and a half months and are delighted with the support given by many parties including the lecturers.
“Sometimes, it’s good to work in a small team because you will put in extra effort, hence it will increase efficiency especially when you do not have to deal with many people.
“Personally, I feel the outcomes (final projects) are far better than what we were expecting.
“Although there are many parts that we feel can be improved, we are happy the whole project turned out well,” he said.
Lodestar was chosen as the name of the screening because the project involved only six students and their lecturer advisor, Lee Kean Wei, who comprised the seventh star.
The word Lodestar means the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Minor, which is considered as a guiding star for the students to achieve their dreams.
Among those present at the premiere were Lodestar lecturer advisor Lee Kean Wei, and HCUC lecturers Kek Phaik Yong, Ooi Li Fang, Afeez Nawfal, Eric Shaun Seaton and Eswandy Asre.
