PENANG, 1 JUNE – Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) was abuzz with excitement as photography enthusiasts from all walks of life gathered for a free workshop hosted by Sony. The event, which was held from 9am to 1pm, transformed the HCUC auditorium into a hub of creativity and learning.
The workshop, designed to cater to both beginners and seasoned photographers, featured expert tips and hands-on sessions led by SONY Alpha Guru, Mr. Yap Li Lung. Attendees had the unique opportunity to enhance their photography skills, learn about the latest techniques, and experiment with new equipment.
From mastering camera settings to understanding lighting and composition, the interactive sessions allowed attendees to practice their skills under the guidance of professionals, making the learning experience both enjoyable and impactful.
A key highlight of the workshop was the in-depth exploration of the exposure triangle, led by the distinguished guest speaker Mr. Yap Li Lung. This fundamental concept in photography involves understanding the interplay between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Attendees gained knowledge on how to manipulate these settings to achieve the desired exposure and creative effects in their photographs.
Additionally, Yap shared examples from his past work, offering detailed analyses that helped participants understand the practical applications of the exposure triangle and enhance their photography skills.
“Through this workshop, I was able to gain knowledge from Sony Alpha Guru Mr. Yap Li Lung, learn from his professional experience, understand his views and philosophies on photography, discover his techniques for capturing great photos, and enhance my understanding of photography,” shared Ong Yuan Heng, a Year 1 Semester 3 Diploma in Multimedia Design and Communication student from HCUC, who is also an avid photographer and portrait and street photography hobbyist.
The workshop concluded with a group photo, capturing the enthusiasm of all participants. This event provided invaluable knowledge and fostered a strong sense of community among local photographers.
