Students of Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) can access the newly renovated Mac Lab from coming May. The MacLab established in the year 2019 accommodates 41 Mac computers and is consistently updated with latest software.
“We make sure that the standards of our Mac Lab is on par with the latest developments in the industry. Therefore, our computers in the Mac Lab are equipped with the latest editions of Adobe and Microsoft software. This will be an encouraging factor for our students to experience and train themselves in the newest technologies rather than outdated software,” the ITS Manager Khoo Kah Ban explained the decisions for using the latest software used in the Mac Lab.
Though the Mac Lab is fairly new, Kah Ban informed that some patch works had to be done for the benefits of both students and lecturers. Among them, the ITS Manager stated that the ceiling is being newly plastered while airconds are being serviced/replaced with additional flooring works are taking place.
“The Mac Lab’s renovation has already finished and all our students will be able to use it from May onwards. However, students are reminded to adhere to all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) since we are still functioning in a Covid-19 environment. A maximum number of 14 students in one sitting are allowed to capitalise the facility and they must book a place before using them,” Kah Ban emphasised the SOPs upon the reopening of the Mac Lab.
For now, the Mac Lab allows the HCUC population to carry out designing, photo editing, animation and designing works. Other than that, the Mac Lab is also heavily used by the lecturers of the School of Applied Creative Arts and Design to conduct both theoretical and practical lessons.
