PENANG: A group of students from the School of Applied Creative Arts and Design and the School of Communication and Media of Han Chiang University College of Communication recently took part in the highly anticipated Glo-Walk 9.0, hosted by Tech Dome Penang on September 28th, 2024 at Youth Park.
This year’s Glo-Walk, which drew a record crowd of over 5,000 participants, featured a variety of hands-on activities centered around STEM education, aimed at raising public awareness of science and technology.
From illuminated night walks to interactive booths and vibrant performances, the event offered something for everyone.
Volunteering as event helpers, the students contributed to the smooth running of the annual event, known for promoting both community engagement and science education.
Students were stationed at the hand print registration board to facilitate eventgoers’ traffic and face painting booths. Their presence not only provided essential support but also gave them the opportunity to experience the magic of community-based events firsthand.
“I earned a lot as a volunteer this event, including a even deeper understanding in face painting. Despite the tiring experience, it was worth it to see smiles of the public on their faces after completing their face paintings,” shared Lim Chea Xin, a student volunteer from Diploma in Multimedia Communication Design.
The Glo-Walk 9.0 remains a key fixture in Penang’s event calendar, combining fitness, fun, and education, while fostering a spirit of togetherness across the community. Tech Dome Penang’s commitment to science and education was further highlighted by the collaborative efforts of volunteers, students, and sponsors alike.
With over 80 lucky draw prizes up for grabs and a wide range of activities, including performances and STEM-related experiences, the Glo-Walk Carnival proved to be a night to remember.
