Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia to offer dual award degree and master’s programmes.
Students pursuing the dual award programmes in Advertising, Media Production, New Media, Public Relations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Creative Multimedia and Management Science will graduate with degrees awarded by both HCUC and USQ.

“We are extremely pleased with this collaboration with USQ which has been acclaimed for its quality programmes and academic standards,” said HCUC Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor Dr Beh Kok Hooi.
“This MoU will provide an international dimension to the curriculum, hence enhancing the graduates’ employability as USQ’s degree is globally recognised.
“Students who wish to get the Australian experience may opt to study one semester in the USQ campus,” Dr Beh said adding that the dual award also signifies the high academic standards of HCUC’s homegrown undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The MoU was signed by Dr Beh Kok Hooi and USQ Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts, Professor Barbara de la Harpe in the presence of Penang Han Chiang Associated Chinese Schools Association Executive Adviser cum HCUC Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping JP, Penang Han Chiang Associated Chinese Schools Association Chairman Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing, Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce President and Penang Han Chiang Associated Chinese Schools Association Vice Chairman Dato’ Seri Hong Yeam Wah and Penang Han Chiang Associated Chinese Schools Association Vice Chairman Lee Joo Ping.
HCUC (then Han Chiang College) has developed a distinctive partnership with USQ since December 6, 2000 when the first MoU for advanced standing was signed to enable its diploma students to pursue their degree in USQ, Australia. This partnership was further reinforced with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on September 13, 2008 for the College to offer USQ’s 3+0 Bachelor of Communication.
