PENANG, 15 APR — As part of the second intake of the year, Han Chiang University College of Communication welcomed its newest batch of students with a two-day-long orientation programme on the 15th and 16th April 2024. Roughly 90 students participated in the orientation.
The first day of the orientation began around 8:00 a.m., with students arriving to confirm their attendance and change into the HCUC T-shirts.
The opening speech began promptly an hour later, followed by an oath-taking ceremony led by Bryan Wong Weng Kit and an academic affairs briefing. A facility briefing and clubs briefing commenced after a short break.
After lunch, the students separated into their respective schools and led to various classrooms around campus. There, a briefing about the course registrations was held.
The last activity of the day was a short campus tour, where the students were introduced to the facilities and layout of Han Chiang University’s Campus led by Student Representative Council (SRC) members.
The second day of the orientation focused mainly on PTPTN registrations and a brief on scholarships and bursaries.
To end the orientation, an ice-breaking session was held. Students participated in bonding games such as ‘Pass The Bottle’ and ‘Sequencing Squad’, whereby students who lost in these games were obligated to introduce themselves.
As the orientation ended, the new batch of students appeared excited to begin this new chapter of their lives. With the support of the SRC and university staff, they left the orientation prepared, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities awaiting them at HCUC.
