PENANG – The vibrant pulse of student life was on full display at HCUC Clubs & Societies Synergy 2024, a two-day extravaganza held on November 25 and 26 at Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC). Organised by the university’s Student Representative Council (SRC) and sponsored by Scent of Harmony, the event transformed the campus into a dynamic hub of activities, creativity, and camaraderie.
Day 1 kicked off with an inspiring opening speech from the event organizers, followed by a token of appreciation presented to the generous sponsor. The atmosphere quickly came alive with a soulful singing performance by Michelle Loh that set the tone for the day. The highlight of the event was the expo that featured 13 booths, one for each of the campus clubs and a central booth for the SRC.
Each booth showcased its unique identity through games and interactive sessions aimed at engaging students. The Chinese Studies Society’s booth drew crowds with its chopstick bead-picking challenge, rewarding winners with fans they could personalize with their own artwork. Meanwhile, the Esports Club immersed participants in intense battles with games like God of War and Mortal Kombat 11. The Photography Club offered hands-on experience with various cameras, sparking creativity among aspiring photographers.
Day 2 saw the energy reach new heights with a lively busking session featuring students with multiple talents. One such performance was held by the group “We Are Lalazai”, who took the stage with an electrifying combination of singing and dancing. The momentum carried into a K-pop random dance session that had students grooving to hits like Super Shy by New Jeans and Magnetic by ILLIT. A performance was then held by Liew Teng Yang and Chi Yue, who serenaded the audience with guitar and vocals, bridging the gap between the first and second busking sessions.
Reflecting on the event, organising president Lim Chea Xin said, “I think this will help students better understand the clubs and societies that Han Chiang has to offer, acquire additional skills, and develop a spirit of solidarity.”
Her words encapsulated the heart of the event, which not only introduced students to a range of extracurricular opportunities but also fostered a deeper sense of connection and community.
HCUC Clubs & Societies Synergy 2024 has succeeded in turning a regular day on campus into a celebration of talent, teamwork, and student life, leaving attendees inspired to explore their passions and make the most of their university experience.
