The event was held two years after the epidemic and was open to lecturers and students in order to promote teacher-student relationships.
On 15h March 2023, the Lim Lean Teng Hall was buzzing with excitement as the Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) School of Communication and Media hosted their annual Badminton Competition. The event was attended by both students and lecturers.
The competition kicked off at 2 pm and continued till 5 pm with a total of 14 groups of boys and 11 groups of girls participating. The matches were played in doubles. The competition was intense, and the players displayed their skills and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
In the men’s category, MPU lecturer, Mr. Chiang Chee Keat and HCUC Badminton Club president Lew Hew Wei emerged as the winners with a score of 21-15, 10-21, and 21-10. Their performance was impressive, and they showed great teamwork and coordination on the court. They said that it was unpredictable that they had won the competition as it was the first time they played together and that they needed to develop their understanding.
In the women’s category, Ms. Jessie Yong and Ms. Lam Yat Kuan won with a score of 21-10, and 21-10, displaying their dominance throughout the match. Ms. Lam also said that her partner would help her every time. They believed that although this is the first time they’ve played badminton, they were sure it wouldn’t be the last.
The winners were awarded with certificates and medals at the end of the event, and the participants appreciated the efforts of the organizers for putting up a great show.
The HCUC Badminton Competition was a great success, with students and teachers enjoying the event and showcasing their badminton skills. The organizers hope to continue hosting such events in the future and promote the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition among the HCUC community.
