PENANG: In a landmark move poised to revolutionise the realms of academia and virtual production, Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) proudly stands as the first institution of higher learning in the country to pioneer a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brainchild Pictures Pte Ltd Singapore. The MoU, signed by the Vice Chancellor of HCUC, Associate Professor Dr Beh Kok Hooi and the Managing Director of Brainchild Pictures, Mr Raymond Tan marks the beginning of a strategic partnership. Through this collaboration, HCUC aims to leverage the cutting-edge expertise and resources of Brainchild Pictures, to enhance educational initiatives, research endeavours and industry engagement opportunities within the field of virtual production.
Through this collaboration, both parties are committed to elevating HCUC’s brand identity, introducing the latest media production technology and knowledge to reflect current industry trends and providing media services advice to HCUC’s faculty and students for potential collaborations.
“By leveraging the expertise and resources of Brainchild Pictures, we ensure that our curriculum remains relevant while also ensuring that our faculty members and students remain at the forefront of advancements,” the Vice Chancellor of HCUC, Associate Professor Dr Beh Kok Hooi said.
“Brainchild Pictures will also serve as HCUC’s industrial partner, granting our faculty and students access to expertise and knowledge in virtual production, internship opportunities and facilitating the transfer of technology and knowledge between academia and industry, “ Dr Beh added.

“Virtual production (VP) is an advanced filmmaking method that merges live-action filming with computer-generated imagery (CGI) and real-time visual effects. VP lets filmmakers blend physical and digital worlds, allowing them to see and adjust virtual environments and characters while shooting live-action scenes. This innovative technique has transformed the production of films, TV shows, and other media by providing greater creative control, cost-efficiency, and flexibility,” Tan added.
