PENANG – Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) and Jazz Hotel Penang have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 11 March, bridging the gap between academia and the hospitality industry.
The MOU was officially signed by HCUC’s Vice-chancellor, Associate Professor Dr. Beh Kok Hooi and the JAZZ Hotel Penang’s Hotel Manager, Mr. Jordon Lim.
Through the signing of the MOU, HCUC and JAZZ Hotel Penang hopes to foster mutual enrichment through the sharing of services that are beneficial to both industries. JAZZ Hotel Penang hotel would provide internship programs, community engagements, education and youth employment for HCUC students.
Concurrently, HCUC would provide JAZZ Hotel with consultancy services such as brand communication, digital marketing and social media management, corporate video and commercial production, and crisis communication management.
During his speech, HCUC Vice-chancellor Associate Professor Dr. Beh Kok Hooi said through the signing of the MOU, both the fields of academia and the hospitality industry would allow students to put their theoretical and practical knowledge to the test during a real-world scenario.
“The MOU reflects a harmonious blend and promises a mutually enriching collaboration as HCUC is a young University College renowned for its trendy programmes in social sciences in northern Peninsular Malaysia while JAZZ Hotel Penang is a distinguished establishment which is synonymous with chic and comfort in the hospitality industry.
“Through this MOU, HCUC’s students will gain access to internships, community engagements, workshops, youth employment, knowledge and skill transfer hosted by JAZZ Hotel Penang, hence empowering our students to thrive in diverse professional landscapes,” he added.
Meanwhile, JAZZ Hotel Penang Manager, Mr. Jordan Lim expressed his pride in being the first hotel in Penang to have signed an MOU with HCUC.
“We look forward to the collaboration and to be part of the journey to complete the graduates training on being well rounded, work ready, and are highly sought after individuals in the corporate world,” Mr. Jordon said.
