PENANG, 23 April: Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hompton by the Beach Penang on 23 April 2024, marking another glorious milestone in providing a meaningful collaboration in both the fields of academics and the hospitality industry.
The MOU was signed by HCUC’s Vice-chancellor, Associate Professor Dr Beh Kok Hooi and the Hompton by the Beach Penang’s Hotel General Manager, Mr Mohd Suffian Phoong.
In his speech, HCUC’s Vice-chancellor Associate Professor Dr Beh Kok Hooi said the MOU was signed with the aspiration that the collaboration would enrich the educational journey of the students and empower them to make significant contributions upon their graduation from Han Chiang University College of Communication.
“Through the internship programmes provided by Hompton by the Beach, Penang, HCUC students will gain practical exposure that complements their theoretical knowledge and equip them with invaluable skills for their future careers.”
He also expressed appreciation to Hompton by the Beach, Penang for their enthusiasm to partner with HCUC, recognising institutions of higher learning as vital hubs of knowledge, innovation and societal advancement.
“By joining forces, we amplify our collective impact and create opportunities for mutual growth and development.
“Through signing the MoU, both parties will work together through multiple avenues of collaboration which include activities such as internships, training, workshops, and most importantly research and development in providing solutions that can benefit both academia and the hospitality industry, ” he added.
Meanwhile, Hompton by the Beach Penang General Manager, Mr Mohd Suffian Phoong said, “The MoU represents more than a mere legal document; rather it signifies a milestone in our shared journey towards mutual collaboration, shared goals and collective prosperity.
“It also offers HCUC students the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultures, gain hands-on experience in their fields of study and build networks that will serve them well beyond graduation,” he added.
Human Resource Manager, Mr Lawrance Ayerru said the partnership between the two institutions marked the beginning of a journey filled with endless possibilities and opportunities for collaboration, growth and innovation.
“Through this MoU, we are opening doors to a wealth of opportunities for HCUC students to broaden their horizons, expand their knowledge and gain valuable experiences that will shape their future.”
Also present at the MoU signing were HCUC’s and Hompton by the Beach, Penang’s management team and student representative council representatives.
