A warm welcome to Han Chiang College and congratulations on your acceptance to HCC. We are delighted that you have chosen HCC to embark on your academic journey. We assure you that it will be an interesting journey in your quest for knowledge.
As one of the country’s excellent private tertiary institutions, HCC has attained a five-star for quality in cluster-based rating for social science, arts and humanities in the Malaysian Qualification Evaluation System for Private Colleges or MyQuest in brief since 2012/2013.
HCC offers foundation, diploma and 3+0 degree programmes in collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, our partner university. All our academic programmes are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency or more commonly referred to as MQA.
HCC is also embarking on its journey to become a University College which is slated for 2018. Through the Schools of Communication, Applied Creative Arts & Design, Business & Management and Chinese Studies, HCC will offer a variety of modern degree programmes from which you can choose an education that is right for you when you complete your diploma studies.
At HCC, we provide you with a vibrant learning environment where you will learn both hard or technical skills as well as soft skills such as communication, problem solving, creative, critical and team building skills.
Why are soft skills as important as hard skills? It is because while technical skills open the door to your career, soft skills or people skills make you stand out and succeed in your career. As such, an education in HCC prepares you not only a lifetime of earning but also a lifetime of learning.
HCC is also staffed by a team of qualified and experienced academics and equipped with up-to-date facilities like the Creative Media Centre, Han Chiang News Studio, Computer Labs, Lecture Theatres among others, to make your intellectual adventure exciting, comfortable and safe. Every student is assigned to an academic advisor who is on hand to help you with academic matters. In addition, we also have two counsellors on the team to provide you with a safe, supportive and confidential space in a non-judgmental way. So feel free to consult your academic advisors or counselors should you need professional advice.
At HCC, we are always looking for ways to reward and benefit our students and alumni. One such initiative is the launch of WOW! Privileges where students and alumni get to enjoy great discounts from our partners.
On top of that, exciting times await you. We have a host of events lined up for our students. One such event is the Host Idol Newscaster Quest 2017 which will be held this Saturday July 8 at Queensbay Mall outside Starbucks Coffee, where 15 secondary school students will showcase their talents in hosting in front of three popular media personalities such as Owen Yap of 8TV, Tan Ley Teng our alumna of ntv7 and Ivan Toh of TV1. Another event is the Golden Achievement Awards, a ceremony that will be held on September 29 in recognition of the achievements of our graduates.
I therefore urge you to participate actively in HCC’s and student activities, be part of our many societies and take part in sporting events and competitions. Be prepared to make new friends and meet new people as the saying; make new friends, keep the old, one is silver, the other gold, holds true.
Last but not least, I wish you the most fulfilling and rewarding experience in Han Chiang College.
