Han Chiang College (HCC) has announced that the institution is on track to achieving its university college status after undergoing some challenges.
Principal Dr Beh Kok Hooi said that the College is confident that they will become a university college by November this year.
“Everything is in place and we plan to submit all documents to the Ministry of Higher Education in April in order to become university college in November or at the latest, the beginning of next year.
“Newly recruited diploma students will have the opportunity to study degree courses when the College achieves university college status,” Beh said adding that HCC will provide two new degree programmes in Communication (Advertising) and Creative Multimedia.
Talks to gain credit transfers to be exempted from 4-5 subjects to study ACCA for accounting students who go on HCC’s accounting programme is still ongoing.
He added that Han Chiang’s fees are affordable and deserving students are provided with scholarships.
HCC currently has 700 students and student intake has doubled compared to last January.
