PENANG, 8 DEC – A batch of HCUC Year 1 Semester 2 and 3 Diploma in Mass Communications students organised a screening event here yesterday evening. The theme of the screening was titled, ‘Gift For You’.
“This screening is like a present for our audiences because our screening is coincidentally held in the month of December this year, which is near Christmas. Thus, we named our screening ‘Gift For You,’” revealed H’ng Guan Zhi, the president of Gift For You.
There were five participating production teams, consisting of Pokpokgeh Production, Got Beef Or Not Production, 5.1 Production, Biu Boom Production, and Oh! Nana Production. Each team showcased one music video and one TV magazine of different themes.
The variety of genres for music videos included KPOP, romance, RNB, life lessons, and youth, whereas the TV magazines ranged from fashion to our national gems, such as tourist destinations, festivals, and local delicacies.
Biu Boom Production and Got Beef Or Not Production emerged as winners of the night after sweeping two awards back home, respectively. Biu Boom Production secured the Best Music Video with their music video, ‘What a Wonderful World’ and their TV magazine, ‘Biu Boom Walk Around’ won the Most Popular TV Magazine. On the other hand, Got Beef Or Not Production won audiences’ hearts with their most popular ‘24K Magic’ music video, aside from bagging the Best TV Magazine title with ‘Beefy Adventures’.
“We are proud of our production because we took our time and put a lot of effort into it. We would also like to thank the audiences who liked our content,” shared Cassandra and Burger from Got Beef Or Not Production, who were taken aback and shocked after receiving two awards.
Cassandra and Burger also shared that they realised the value of cooperation while working behind the scenes during the filming of their team’s music video and TV magazine.
Guan Zhi expressed his happiness after succeeding the screening, despite some technical issues that happened throughout the screening. He vowed that the next screening will be better since they have gained a lot of experience from this one.
“More effort should be placed into promoting the screening in order to increase the number of attendees,” said Guan Zhi.
As the final frames flickered across the screens, the screening resonated as a resounding success, leaving the audiences in awe at the students’ brilliance showcased throughout the night.
“This is a very new experience for me, as this is my first time attending a screening event. I usually don’t see events like this anywhere in other colleges, including my own. I find this environment very friendly, and it’s also a very good chance to hang out with friends,” shared Darren, an audience member.
