Some 380 people attended Han Chiang College’s (HCC) Mass Communication final year broadcasting students’ screening at Wawasan Open University last week.
Dé Showtime screening was held to showcase 11 short films, TV commercials, corporate videos and public service announcements produced by 11 different productions.
The productions were put together by 56 broadcasting students in Year 3 Semester 1, who are also the committee members of the screening.
Short film “Passed”, produced by Boss Production won the Best Short Film Award as voted by judges.
Boss Production director Ooi Zhang Xun said the team was surprised when they were announced as winners as there were many other good films.
“We would like to thank our actors who willingly contributed their time for the shooting, the team members for all their hard work, lecturers and everyone who has helped us to complete the film,” Ooi said adding that they used three weeks to film and edit the short film.
Another short film “0.08 Tons of Love”, a romantic comedy by EZ Production walked away with the Most Favourite Short Film Award as voted by the audience.
EZ Production director Ong Zhen Yi said she never thought that they could win and had completely forgotten about the Most Favourite Short Film Award.
“A funny film is slightly harder to film so it took us more than one month for filming and editing.
“The most memorable part was when we had to film the main actors’ kissing scene for four days because whenever we start filming the scene, it starts to rain,” Ong added.
Also present were HCC Vice Principal Jenny Khoo, lecturers Lee Kean Wei, Ooi Li Fang, Eric Shaun Seaton, Muhammad Su’ud Zhariff Bin Zaharin, Cynthia Ng and Mohammad Eswandy Bin Asre.
