PENANG, 12 AUGUST- Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) welcomed a fresh batch of students to its Foundation program. The orientation, which kicked off at 9:00 AM, was hosted by emcees Bryan Wong Weng Kit and Lim Min Jun, who set the tone for the day with a warm welcoming speech.
The orientation began with an introduction to HCUC’s vision, mission, and core values, giving new students a clear understanding of the institution’s ethos. This was followed by an introduction to key university figures, including the Chancellor, Chairman, Vice Chancellors, and the Deans of the four schools.
The Dean of the School of Communication & Media, Mr. Chuah Chin Guan, delivered a speech that underscored the significance of the students’ journey at HCUC. “We strive to be successful and hope you enjoy your Foundation with us at HCUC” Mr. Chuah Chin Guan stated. This was followed by an oath-taking ceremony led by Lim Min Jun, the head of the Student Representative Council (SRC), which marked the students’ official entry into the HCUC community.
The day continued with a series of academic briefings, providing students with essential information about their studies and campus life. These included briefings on academic affairs, the Centre for Languages, disciplinary matters, student services, finance, and the library. Each session was designed to equip students with the knowledge they need to navigate their academic journey at HCUC successfully.
Following a short break, the orientation resumed with an introduction to HCUC’s various societies and clubs, offering students a glimpse into the vibrant extracurricular life on campus. Students then signed official documents, including the acceptance letter and oath statement, formalizing their commitment to the institution.
The day concluded with a lunch break, followed by a course briefing and registration tutorial, ensuring that all students were well-prepared to begin their academic pursuits. The orientation ended with a campus tour led by members of the Student Representative Council, giving students a chance to familiarize themselves with their new environment.
With this comprehensive orientation, HCUC has ensured that its new foundation students are well-equipped to embark on their educational journey, fostering a strong sense of belonging and community from the very start.
