West College Scotland is partnering with Han Chiang Centre of Professional Studies (CoPS) to introduce two vocational diploma courses which are Diploma of Computer Graphics and Diploma in Broadcast Media Production to Han Chiang CoPS students.
Yong Yaw Wee, West College Scotland Southeast Asia Partner Director, said the two vocational diploma courses are suitable for students who want to have more practical studies instead of focusing on theories alone.
“West College Scotland is a college that focuses on giving practical studies to students which allows them to be prepared with the necessary skills when they are working,” Yong said
Yow adds that the current marketing is also focused on practical skills as many companies are hiring people with skills they learnt from their studies and applying it in their workplace.
“Having a practical skill is like having a passport when applying for a vacancy when the students are going to work. Many companies are emphasising on candidates having practical skills,” he said
The first intake of this partnership course was in September 2020, and the students are satisfied with the course they have enrolled for, after having joined it for one month.
Teoh Jia Jit, a Year 1 Semester 1 student, who is taking the Diploma in Broadcast Media Production, said she is satisfied with the course she has enrolled for due to the lecturers being knowledgeable in the subject that they are teaching.
“The lecturers are great at teaching the subject they are familiar with. They will include examples, case studies or their work experiences during the lecture class,” Teoh said
Teoh adds that the industry-relevant experiences shared by the lecturers during lectures are relevant to understanding the requirements of her assignment. She has gained more knowledge in shooting and produced better videos for her assignment.
