PENANG: Today marks the return of Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) students to its campus grounds on Jalan Lim Lean Teng, Penang when it reopens its doors to its new and final year students to resume their practical classes.
A total of 130 students in these two categories (new and final year students) have been permitted to return to campus for their face-to-face practical and studio classes namely Computer Software Application, Design Entrepreneurship Project and broadcasting production courses.
This decision to allow the return of students is in line with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia’s guidelines that allow five categories of students to return to campus for practical classes.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the students, careful preparations have been made by HCUC to comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and the HCUC Covid-19 Prevention Committee (CPC).
Temperature checks will be conducted for students, staff and visitors upon entering the campus.
Those with a body temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius or are symptomatic (with flu-like symptoms) will not be allowed to enter the campus. Other SOPs include scanning of QR Code for contact tracing at all venues visited, practising social distancing, wearing of masks, hand sanitisation and other hygiene protocols. HCUC staff are on hand to guide the students to adjust to the new normal.
HCUC will continue with online Teaching and Learning till December 31, 2020 for all non-practical classes as per MOHE’s guidelines. However, final year students without access to e-learning facilities can request to return to campus by emailing Student Services at studentservices@hcu.edu.my .This is to ensure that no HCUC student is left behind in their learning journey.
