Kolej Tingkatan 6 Haji Zainul Abidin’s teacher in charge, Puan Noorainun Binti Sultan Ghany, said the contestants were required to produce a short video clip based on one of the three themes, namely ‘Pencemaran Sungai’, ‘Kitar Semula’ and ‘Penghijauan Alam Sekitar’.
She said she was happy with the collaboration with HCUC as the lecturers are professional in their work.
“We look forward to have more collaborations with HCUC in the coming years,” she added.
HCUC lecturer Miss Ooi Li Fang said she’s satisfied with the quality of video produced by the respective participating schools.
“In fact, I was surprised that the students were very creative in their presentation such as making use of some free software including powtoon and vimeo to create the videos and animations. Apart from that, a team of students used a sketch to tell a story that is related to the theme. I was impressed with the students’ hard work and their creative approach.”
Miss Ooi elaborated that this type of competition would definitely work as a head start for those who are curious about what broadcasting is all about.
“The challenges they faced during the production would definitely lead them to the next stage which is learning or finding the solution to the problems encountered. Eventually, these students will choose to take up broadcasting studies,” she added.
Another lecturer Encik Hanafi Bin Jumrah said this competition was a great opportunity to expose students to make interesting short video productions.
In addition, the competition can produce students with creative and critical thinking.
“What I saw through the competition was that the creative ideas of students were expressed through interesting storylines,” Encik Hanafi added.
Meanwhile, the head of broadcasting Mr Lee Kean Wei said if the participating students could polish their skills with official broadcasting knowledge, they would be able to produce good quality short videos.
