Final year students of Diploma in Mass Communication, majoring in Public Relations and Advertising students from Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) are currently organising “1-Metre Apart” awareness campaign online from November 9 to November 23.
The objective of the awareness campaign is to educate people the importance of following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) announced by the government to reduce the spreading of Covid-19.
“1-Metre Apart” Vice President, Lim Yee Xin said the committee members chose Covid-19 as the theme for the awareness campaign as some of the public are still not complying with the SOPs during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Lim said the campaign will focus on educating the people on the virus and the preventive measures the public should be adhering to reduce the contagion. For a start, a video of Dr Adam Wong from Penang General Hospital will be uploaded to the awareness campaign’s Facebook page: 1-Metre Apart and Instagram page: @1_metreapart.
Another video, says Lim, from Earnest Chiam, a counsellor from Agape Counselling Centre Malaysia, Penang Branch will be also uploaded to the social media page to help people overcome feelings of anxiousness or depression from the pandemic as some stay away and isolated from their family.
Apart from that, there will be a creative photo competition based on the theme of social distancing or other SOPs related to the RMCO to allow people immortalise their memories with their friends or family members when taking the photo while SOPs are strictly adhered to. Participants are allowed to edit the photo taken before sending it for submission.
Lim said winners can win cash prizes worth up to RM 350 and prizes worth up to RM 1800. The first 50 participants will get a special early bird goody like Iyichao Voucher & Hermo Voucher total worth up to RM 1500.
To submit the photo, participants are required to email the photo including their name, age, address, creative caption, Instagram username, and Facebook username to hcucfyp.1mapart@gmail.com by 11:59 pm on November 22. The submitted photos will be assessed by the committee members and the winners will be announced through Facebook on November 25
